campus life magazine analysis

The masthead is light blue and has a simple formal font style this connotes that it’s slightly more grown up and its targeted at mature students and that’s why the front cover uses subtle colours. The colourful masthead shows that this magazine is for students because it’s really eye-catching. The central image is a two shot at mid close up and I think mid close up was used so the audience could see the classy clothing in the picture and this reinforces the idea of maturity coming across through the front cover.

The cover lines in bold blue, red and white. Are placed at the bottom of the magazine. The cover lines take up half of the layout but the faces on the central image aren’t covered in cover lines and this shows their significance.

In the table of contents the only colours used are black, red and blue and this colours match and compliment each other and this makes the page more bold and it really stands and this technique is used to keep the reader interested.
The table of contents is split up in sections and this makes it look less busy and serious even though it’s in a simple font style.

aspire magazine analysis

this is aspire magazine it’s a student magazine aimed at both genders and this is shown through the use of colour. There is a mixture of varied colours from pink to green. The masthead is big, bold and white and takes up a quarter of the page layout . The masthead links into student life and that’s why it will appeal to students. The central image is a mid close up on a male. The cover lines are bright pink and bold and the stand out from the page because all the other colours are neutral but this is an affect that brings your attention to everything on the front page.
The contents page is in black and green and has a simple font style and the page is basic but it also has images and this is eye catching because it makes the page colourful and this used to keep readers more interested. The contents page is broken up into different sub sections and each section has a colourful green tittle and this makes it easier to read and more interesting

Research and planning:textual analysis of bliss magazine front cover.

I have chose to analyse the connotations of the cover of bliss magazine , this help me with creating and producing my student magazine b. Bliss is a magazine aimed at teenager girls and this shown through the main colours that are used in the cover; pink yellow and light blue. Not only are the colours very feminine they are also very bright and attractive colours which connote a sense of summer and are eye catching. the masthead is big and bright yellow and is covering a bit of the central image showing the masthead is significant. the masthead is the biggest size on the whole cover, followed by Leona lewis's name who is on the cover and this is to grab the attention of the reader. the central image is a eye level , medium close up on Leona Lewis who is a well known celebrity so this gives value to the magazine. the image of her is light and bright and this matches the other colours on the front cover and also in the image she is smiling and this connotes a friendly atmosphere and this will appeal to the teenage girls , who are their target audience.
this magazine has fashion cover lines that also include images of clothes for the summer this is clearly aimed at a young and female readers and this is reinforced by having more coverlines of male celebrities that most girls find attractive and this also gives value to the magazine. under the masthead it shows the date and the price for the magazine and this is something all magazines do and this informs the audience about the information they need to compete with other magazines by showing how cheaper they magazine is compared to the competition.
